Outreach Programs
Serving Our Community
One of the hallmarks of our church is our outreach to Indianola and the surrounding communities. We believe that the church is truly the church when it meets the needs of those who are in need. Every week you’ll find some type of compassion ministry happening at First Assembly.
- Food Give-away
- Every Thursday morning starting at 10:00am, we offer a food give-away to anyone who is in need of groceries. The food is available to all Warren County residents in need, however we would ask that you take only what you will use. Just come to the Fireside entry of the church (located on the northwest side of the building at or before 10:00am).
- Food Pantry
- For those needing food immediately, we also offer the option to receive groceries from our food bank. First Assembly is a member of the Iowa Food Bank Association. Our food pantry is open during our normal office hours Monday-Wednesday, 8:30am-4:30pm. All you need to do in stop in during our office hours and fill out a half-sheet of information about yourself and we will provide you with groceries.
- Wednesday Night Dinner
- Another arm of our food outreach is our Wednesday Night Dinner. This meal starts at 6 pm, ends at 6:30, and is given for a $2 suggested donation. This supper is located in our Fireside room.
Community Events
Beyond our weekly community outreach, we also do special events throughout the year. The two most distinct community events we do are called "The Great Giveaway" and the "Harvest Party."
- Harvest Party
- The Harvest Party happens on Beggar’s Night (the night before Halloween). This party is all about kids. There are a wide variety of games and activities to get lost in at the Harvest Party. There are carnival style games, mazes, and of course, tons of candy and prizes. Families from all over Warren County show up that night to have the time of their lives!
